Comfort and Fit

The Becksa has a stylish fit, with a wide high waistband that hugs the curve of the hips and doesn't slip. The ribbed fabric is cozy, if not buttery soft, and feels good on the skin throughout a hard-packed day of various activities.

If you love pockets but not looking bulky, then you'll enjoy how the two hip pockets on the Becksa are svelte and inconspicuous. Other pants can look like overstuffed backpacks on your hips. The hip pockets on the Becksa support the bounce in our step and held our phone securely even on a morning jog. We also love the hidden waistband pocket for stashing a key or card. Another feature we noticed volunteering at the animal shelter is that these pants attract less pet hair than most models we tested — so pooch approved.

Because of their flatlock design, these pants create flattering lines on the hips and legs. Flatlock seams sew the raw edges of the material together, and without any overlap in fabric, you get a clean silhouette and reduce the danger of chafing seams. These pants never rubbed, and we love how versatile the fit is for yoga, outdoor activities, and dressing up for coffee at the cafe.

We bent over backward for our tests, but we wondered if our work was more like play.

Ease of movement

Trusting a pant to move with your body is essential, and we appreciated how the Becksa stuck with us through every move on the mat, climbing wall, and outdoor scramble.

If you like to fly and balance in thin air, the Becksa are our favorite pants for challenging arm balances. Poses that poise the legs in a delicate balance on the arms combine strength and grace, but even a yogi who finds their center point can lose balance in slippery clothing.

A fabric that grips can help you stick a hard move. Some of the pants we tested could lose friction in challenging arm balances. When we found ourselves wobbling, some of the silkier leggings made it easier for our legs to slip off our arms. The ribbed texture of the Becksa provided the most grippy surface, adding the extra security we needed to find poise and fly. The downside is that while softer fabrics helped us slip into binds like the lotus posture, the Becksa's ribbed material sometimes gave more friction than we liked during tight binds. Try the Becksa with a set of quality yoga blocks to build your strength and grace for these challenging poses.

Breathability

One of the reasons these are among the most versatile leggings we tested is that the ribbed fabric vents heat and wicks moisture, making them incredibly breathable. We tested a darker mottled green and black color, and sweat stains were also never an issue. A good pro tip for avoiding sweat stains is to choose a darker material for use in warmer environments.

On the mat, the Becksa 7/8 was a top performer in heated yoga flows. We tested each pant in a rigorous hour-and-a-half flow in a room temperature controlled at 90-95°F and were normally drenched in sweat around a half hour into the practice. The Becksa was so breathable that we didn't notice sweat until near the end of practice. These leggings also did excellent outside. We loved hiking in them, and our legs didn't feel baked, even when doing yoga on the beach or hiking uphill in a tropical environment. Plus, the pants have UPF 50+, making them great to pair with a sun shirt for high-elevation hikes with a lot of sun exposure.

Construction Quality

The Becksa earned its above-average rank for durability by being one of the best pants for high-friction activities like scrambling on lava rock or climbing. After months of use and multiple wash cycles, we noticed hardly any pilling or wear on the seams. Even though they are thin and breathable, the fabric is sturdy, and they are not see-through. We love how the pants hold their shape throughout practice.

In the field, we tested the Becksa 7/8 hiking on rugged trails and sitting on sharp rocks. We scrambled on seaside cliffs and climbed on wooded climbing walls; these pants were an excellent match for our adventures. We were even pleased volunteering at the animal shelter with how these leggings withstood paws and claws. Hands down, these are our favorite pants to wear while playing outside.

Should You Buy the Prana Becksa 7/8?

You can depend on the Becksa to be an excellent yoga pant for any style you practice, and they are a good choice if you also need something for your next road trip, climbing at the crag, or peak bagging. These pants are dependable, scoring well in all our rating metrics. Additionally, if conscious consumerism is something you value, they are also one of the most sustainable pants that we tested, and Prana manufactures them in a Fair Trade Certified factory. Some people might find the ribbed material less buttery-soft than they want in their pants, but we enjoyed how it is sleek and flexible and can give helpful friction within challenging poses.

What Other Yoga PantsShould You Consider?

While the Prana Becksa 7/8 is dependably comfortable, you might consider the Beyond Yoga Spacedye Out Of Pocket High Waisted Midi if you want an ultra-soft pant with secure hip pockets. Ribbed leggings are a unique style, and if you like the look but want a softer pant, then you might enjoy the soft cotton feel of the REI Co-op Active Pursuits 7/8 Ribbed. Suppose you are looking for a budget option with a flattering fit that moves with your body. In that case, the ColorfulKoala High Waisted Brushed and Crz Yoga NakedFeel Leggings Double Waist Seam won't disappoint you or your wallet.
