Our Verdict

The Rabbit EZ Tee was a joy to run in thanks to its supremely soft fabric and overall high quality. It's a close-fitting style but is still light and breathable, and its raglan sleeves give it a cool, relaxed vibe. The fabric is seriously amazing — you won't want to take it off! From the road to the trails to the gym, it holds its own. While it's not the least expensive of the bunch, we think it performs really well and that the value is great for what you get.

Comfort

The EZ Tee has a closer-to-the-body fit than most of the other shirts we tested. Some runners may be fans of this, while others may prefer a looser style. This tee was super comfy for our testers, but the underarms are cut fairly high, which may not work for everybody. The polyester and spandex blend fabric is beyond soft and has a buttery feel while still being thin.

The shirt's body is long enough to come down past the top of your shorts without having much excess fabric. We also appreciate the raglan-style sleeves, which means there are no seams on the top of the shoulders that could cause chafing along the bone or under a running vest. The flatlock seaming inside sits flush against the rest of the shirt to help prevent any irritation over lots of miles. The neckline has a slight scoop but still provides a lot of coverage from the sun. Additionally, even though the fabric is soft, it's impressively durable. After traversing a rugged, overgrown ridge covered in scrub oak that made our legs bleed from ankles to quads, we still hadn't managed to create any snags in our shirt — we were impressed!

Breathability

The breathability of the fabric on the EZ Tee pleasantly surprised us. Since it doesn't feel like so many other polyester tech tees, we weren't sure how it would perform here. Over the course of testing, though, we found that it does breathe well in a range of temperatures.

The EZ is impressively light, with a size small weighing in at just 2.65 oz, but our one hesitation when rating this metric is the fit. In a lot of running tops, a significant amount of airflow happens because of their looseness. This shirt isn't tight all the way down to the hem, but it is notably snug, preventing some of that air circulation we love. Heavy sweaters may notice that this one is a bit too clingy for them, and in the summer heat (especially in humidity), we'll be reaching for a looser shirt.

Drying Speed

In the summer, a quick-drying shirt will help keep you comfortable as your sweat evaporates and cools you down. And in the winter, a shirt that dries fast will prevent you from getting too chilled as your sweat cools off and sits against your body. Once again, because this fabric is a bit different from most other running apparel, we were curious how it would perform here. While it doesn't dry quite as fast as the very top scorers in this category, we are still sufficiently impressed with its efficacy, especially considering it's not a perforated or mesh fabric.

There were times during testing when we did sweat underneath our running vest, but it didn't take long at all for those areas to dry with our vest off. In practice, we are completely happy with the performance of the EZ and feel comfortable wearing it in the backcountry, where the stakes with maintaining the correct body temperature are a bit higher.

Features & Versatility

There aren't too many features that we're looking for in our running shirts, but there are a couple we love to see. The first: reflective decals. These make us feel so much safer running at night when a car's lights or friend's headlamp can pick up the decal and know where we are. We also love to see some type of odor control since polyester clothing used for high output activities has a tendency to maintain a smell. We didn't notice any lingering odors on this shirt over the course of testing, but it could be a possibility over time.

As far as versatility goes, the Rabbit was a high scorer. The less traditional styling for this running shirt makes it easier to wear for other activities. Its unbelievable stretchiness would be perfect for a bendy yoga class or rock climbing. It also folds down really small, making it a great choice for travel. There isn't a specific UPF rating for this shirt, but standard polyester clothing has a UPF rating of 15, and since this fabric doesn't make use of any mesh or perforations, we feel sufficiently protected from the sun's rays. As mentioned when discussing comfort, the lack of seams along the tops of the shoulders makes it easy to wear underneath, not just a running pack, but also under a much heavier backpacking pack. And finally, because it does sit closer to the skin, it's a good piece to layer over in variable weather.

Value

We know that the price of this tee may still feel like a lot for "just a running shirt," but we stand by its value. Not only does it perform well across all of our metrics, but with the ability to wear it across all the seasons and its top-notch quality, this will be in your rotation for a long time to come. In fact, we think you'll even find yourself wearing this tee lounging around the house — we sure did!

Conclusion

With consistent high performance packaged into a flattering style all at a good value, the Rabbit EZ tee is a perfect pick. If you're looking for an all-around performer that won't break the bank, give this one a shot.
