Our Verdict

The Prologo Dimension makes a splash in our saddle lineup with its unique short-nose design and all-around comfort and performance. It certainly impressed our testers with its cushy padding, lightweight performance, and unique design. The modern shape with a shortened nose and a widened rear platform may not be for everyone, but this design provides plenty of supportive cushioning for the sit bones without overloading the soft tissues. Riders looking to try a modern ultralight design without sacrificing comfort or performance should check out this saddle. Our Analysis and Test Results

The Prologo Dimension stands out in our crowded lineup with a modern short-nose design and one of the lowest measured weights we've ever recorded. The unique saddle design encourages an aggressive riding position, while the widened rear platform, adequate padding, and P.A.S. pressure relief channel ensure that comfort isn't sacrificed. The Dimension scores well across the board without any significant weaknesses.

Performance Comparison

Comfort

With its firm yet comfortable padding, P.A.S. (Perineal Area System) anatomic relief channel, and unique short-nose shape, the Dimension is one of the most comfortable performance-oriented saddles in our lineup. Although the padding is thinner and denser than on some of the cushier comfort-oriented saddles, it has an ideal firmness that strikes a nice balance between cushioning and support. The 143mm wide rear seating platform provides a nice supportive base for the sit bones, and the P.A.S. pressure relief channel ensures that your soft tissues have plenty of room, even in more aggressive riding positions.

The flat front-to-back profile and semi-round side-to-side profile make this ideally suited to more aggressive riding positions.

The relatively flat front-to-back profile and semi-round side-to-side shape of the Dimension are ideal for more aggressive riding positions with medium pelvic rotation. While this shape is comfortable for racers or aggressive riders, it probably wouldn't be as comfortable in a more upright riding position where the sit bones would contact the saddle differently.

Performance

The Dimension's unique shape and lightweight design make it a high-performance saddle. It is intended for riders who spend a lot of time in a lower, more aggressive riding position, and the short nose encourages leaning forward in the cockpit and helps shave some weight. The thin, dense padding over a stiff shell construction provides just enough cushion and flex to maintain comfort and efficiency without compromising power transfer.

Although the wide seating platform on this saddle provides more than enough room to move around to different seating positions, our testers found that the padding and the unique shape provide a nice sweet spot from which we didn't veer away very often. Once our rears were locked and loaded in the optimum position, we mostly stayed in that spot, regardless of the terrain or speed. During short, intense efforts, or long, slow grinds, the Dimension performed admirably. Although the short-nose shape of this saddle is a somewhat newer trend, we can see this type of design sticking around thanks to its lightweight, performance-oriented design.

Versatility

While it's certainly lightweight, comfortable, and high-performing, the Dimension struggles a little bit in the versatility ratings. Its unique design makes it a strong contender for racers or aggressive riders but would tend to be a drawback in other riding scenarios with more upright and relaxed riding positions where comfort is a higher priority. The thin, dense padding and relatively flat shape that are ideal for forward-leaning riding positions become a drawback in more upright riding positions. The stiff shell material that provides great energy transfer may be a little too unforgiving for mountain biking, touring, commuting, or cruising around town.

Durability

The Dimension is a high-quality saddle with high-end materials and solid construction. The overall craftsmanship is superb, and there are no edges, seams, or hardware pieces that could rip, tear, or break. The padding is thin and dense and likely won't break down over time, and the cover material is thick and sturdy. The Tirox light-alloy steel rails are strong and sturdy, and the shell material is reinforced in the front and the rear where the rails connect. This saddle didn't give us any trouble during our testing period, and we have no reason to believe it won't last many, many years.

Weight

The Dimension weights in one of the lowest measured weights we've ever recorded, at 191 grams with the Tirox light-alloy steel rails. While this is slightly above the advertised weight of 180 grams, it is indeed very impressive. For the ultra weight weenies looking for even more weight savings, Prologo offers a Nack version with nanocarbon fiber rails that tips the scales at a mere 150 grams!

Value

This saddle provides excellent value to the right kind of cyclist. Riders looking for a high-end racing or performance saddle will find several top-tier options that are much more expensive and don't offer the same lightweight comfort. If you are in search of a high-quality, lightweight racing saddle that breaks the traditional mold, you'll have a hard time beating the value and performance of the Dimension.

Conclusion

The Prologo Dimension is a high-quality, high-performance saddle that is challenging traditional racing saddle design with its unique short-nose shape. It scored well across nearly all of our testing metrics, and our testers were very pleased with its overall performance and were pleasantly surprised by its lightweight comfort.
