Our Verdict

If you like the fit and feel of Crocs, chances are high that you will really enjoy the Capri IV women's flip-flops. Fitted with classic thong-style suede nubuck straps, this sandal features a surprisingly squishy and comfortable footbed. We also loved that the Capri IV is quite lightweight. Unfortunately, this piece earned lower scores in both our water resistance and style metrics. We also found that despite its molded footbed, the Capri IV offers less support and stability than competitors like the OluKai Ohana - Women's.

Our Analysis and Test Results

A lightweight flip-flop that features Crocs' classic cushy rubber footbed, the Capri IV Sandal is a super casual footwear option. This piece did not score as highly in our water resistance tests as expected and it can become slippery when wet. Although we wish it dried faster, we still really liked this sandal's comfortable suede straps and cushioned footbed.

Stability & Support

The Capri IV sandal has a notably cushy footbed, especially in the heel. In fact, the padding under the heel is about twice as thick as that of the rest of the shoe! Made of of Crocs' proprietary Croslite closed-cell resin technology, this padding offered a fair amount of support and stability. As with any shoe, however, the curves on the Capri IV will either fit your foot or not…and several of our testers noted that this piece just didn't offer the perfect fit.

There's also a fair amount of padding on the outer edge of the foot, which gives a really interesting walking sensation — almost like you want to walk on the outside of your foot a little more because there's more support there. Oddly, this sandal doesn't incorporate quite as much arch support as models like the Chaco Flip - Women's. Although the footbed does have an arch, it isn't exaggerated enough to feel really supportive. That said, if you have a lower arch, this piece might be the perfect fit!

Comfort

Although this piece doesn't have the sink in "Ahhhh" factor that we found in competitors like the Sanuk Yoga Mat - Women's, its squishy footbed still absorbs a lot of shock. If the curvature of this flip-flop fits your feet, you will get cushion in all the right places. Aside from the cushioning, the Capri IV Sandal is super lightweight has small raised dots throughout its footbed. We liked the massaging feeling that these provided and we thought that the suede nubuck straps felt really good on the top of the foot. In fact, the more we wore these cushy sandals, the more they molded a bit to our feet and became even more comfortable.

Water Resistance

Thanks primarily to its rubber material, the footbed of this flip-flop dried in approximately 15 minutes of full sun. Unfortunately, we were surprised by how long it took the suede nubuck straps to dry…more than two hours.

Traction

The Crocs Capri Sandals do have noticeable treads (most of which are horizontal), but they are inset right into the non-grippy Croslite sole. While some other models like the Nike Comfort Thong have grippier sections of rubber incorporated into the sole, the Capris do not offer this feature. Furthermore, when we walked around in this flip-flop while it was wet, our feet tended to slip around fairly easily.

Style & Fit

The Crocs Capri IV is definitely on the more casual end of the footwear spectrum and unlike more youthful sandals like the Reef Women's Fanning, it seems suited for a more mature audience. The suede nubuck straps lend this piece a bit of class, but you can still see the rubber sole and raised dots peaking out from under the toes.

We tested a size 10 in this model and our size 9.5 tester found the fit to be just a bit off. Crocs recommends that individuals with half sizes size down rather than up; whenever possible, however, we recommend trying on a pair of these shoes before purchase. Our size 9.5 tester felt that the length on the size 10 was just about right, but that the placement of the thong and the narrow toe box almost left her toes hanging off the front edge. Additionally, this flip-flop has a double thick heel, so if you dislike having your heel higher than the ball of your foot, this may not be the ideal fit for you.

Best Application

We really liked this flip-flop for all-day wear around town. Although the Capri IV does not provide as much support as some of its competitors, it does absorb lots of shock from the sidewalk. Since it's so lightweight, it's also a great piece of footwear to bring along as a "campsite shoe" on your next backpacking trip.

Value

The Crocs Capri IV flip-flop is little bit more expensive than other pieces like the Teva Women's Mush II, but is far more affordable than the OluKai Ohana. Overall, we think this piece is a good value if it fits your foot just right and you're looking for a more casual shoe.

Although the Capri IV did not earn top marks in style or traction, we still think it's a good deal if you're looking for extra stability at a lower price.

Conclusion

Although it wasn't the most attractive or supportive flip-flop we reviewed, the Crocs Capri IV won us over for its comfortable straps and cushy footbed. This piece is also super lightweight and relatively affordable; just make sure it's really a good fit for your foot before you ditch the tags!
