Our Verdict

The Marmot Flair is a great, stylish, cozy women's fleece jacket. It's hard to beat the soft furry feel. If you are concerned about the way your outdoor gear fits, this is the most flattering women's fleece.

Not very technical or versatile
We really like this jacket, even though it is not a very technical fleece. It is a perfect, comfortable jacket to grab and throw on when you are running out the door. It is really comparable in function to the Mountain Hardwear Monkey Woman, but it is $60 less. If you are looking for a more technical fleece to run in, go with the Arc'teryx Caliber Hoody, or if you prefer a lightweight fleece to throw in your climbing pack, go for the Patagonia R2 - Women's.

Likes


The Flair Jacket is one of the coziest and most comfortable fleeces reviewed. It also has the best cut and fit if you like more form-fitting clothing. It is made out of a really plush and furry fleece, similar to the Mountain Hardwear Monkey Phur. We've taken to calling it "Muppet Fur," because you do feel slightly like a Muppet when wearing this jacket. (In a good way, of course.)

Dislikes


This is not a very technical or versatile fleece. It does not breathe very well, so it is not recommended for running. It is also not very lightweight or packable, so don't bring it on long days.

Best Application


This fleece is best as an around-town, cozy layer for the chilly months.

Value


At $100, this fleece is on the less expensive end of things. If you aren't looking for a really technical piece of clothing, this is a really great all-around jacket for the price, plus it has a really great look and fit to it.

Other Versions


There is a version of this jacket with a hood called the Marmot Flair Hoody that costs $10 extra. Considering that a lot of other companies bump the price of adding a hood $25-50, this is a pretty good deal. Most fleeces don't have a hood as an option. The hood adds a great deal of warmth and comfort. We recommend the hoody version.
