I started snowboarding to get in the air. Thirty-three years later, jumping is still my favorite thing to do, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy a good turn. In 2001, I retired from competitive freestyle and "sponsored" snowboarding to pursue a career shooting and directing snowboarding films – a career which lasted 15 years. But it took me those 15 years to realize that watching other people shred really isn't that much fun – I'd rather be doing the shredding myself. Now I repair rock climbing shoes out of my garage and couldn't be happier, because every time I go play in the snow, it's for myself. Call me selfish. I don't care. I'm stoked.
