Atherton Phleger

Atherton has a complex resume that includes climbing (mostly traditional), search and rescue, and nearly a decade of wilderness canoe tripping, as well as more eclectic pursuits like bird language, community building, tracking and organic farming. Atherton teaches primitive living and survival skills for Trackers Earth, and has had the good fortune to work for such organizations as Marin County Search and Rescue, Keewaydin Temagami, Bee Green Farm and Dead Horse Point State Park. A wanderer by nature, Atherton is constantly finding new outlets for his passion and trying to develop himself into a consummate outdoorsman, philosopher and global citizen. Currently he is pursuing a degree in Creative Writing from the University of Colorado. Atherton has been a member of the Outdoor Gear Lab team since 2010. His favorite bird is the White-Throated Sparrow.
