Our Verdict

The Beyond Yoga Spacedye Long Legging were the most comfortable pair of yoga pants in our review, and for that we've given them our Top Pick for All-Day Comfort award. We wanted to wear them night and day, whether it was for lounging around the house, running errands, or heading out on a hike. But when it came to actually doing yoga, they weren't the most breathable model and we felt uncomfortable when doing a vigorous class in them. If you only do gentle yoga or don't sweat too much, then that's not a problem, but if you do need something with more breathability, check out the Onzie Capri Pant or the Teeki Hot Pant. We also preferred the breathability and ease of movement of our Editors' Choice winner, the Lucy Studio Hatha Capri Legging. But if you live in yoga pants and/or are searching for a cozy pair of leggings to wear under a sweater or dress, these are the ones for you!

Hands-On Review

The Beyond Yoga Spacedye Long Legging are made with 87% Polyester and 13% Lycra. All colors are available in XS-XL, and the Black-Steel, Black-White, and Sunset Rose-Coral Reef also come in XXS and XXL. The fit runs true to size.

Breathability

Beyond Yoga states that these pants have "quick dry properties," but that was not the case for us. In fact, we left class one day wearing the pants (and feeling sweaty in them), went to the grocery store, then the pet store, and by the time we got home an hour later we still felt dampness in the pant. If you tend to sweat a lot in class, then you'll want to look for more breathable models like our Editors' Choice winner, the Lucy Studio Hatha Capri Legging, or the 90 Degrees by Reflex Power Flex Pant, and if you do hot yoga then the Onzie and Teeki leggings are the best options.

The good news about the Spacedye's fabric though is that, while they were not breathable, at least the sweat didn't show too much on the heather fabric in the red color that we tested. After many bad experiences of leaving a class looking like we wet ourselves because a gray pant got darker when wet, it was nice to have a color option to wear that didn't do that.

Ease of Movement

This pant was really easy to move in, until it got wet from sweat. Then the material felt sticky and would cling to our legs, impeding our movement a little bit. We did like the stretch when dry though, and the waistband was nice and wide but not too bulky, so it didn't get in the way of any forward bends. These pants worked great in a gentle Yin class, where you hold poses for long periods of time.

If you practice many different styles of yoga, you'll probably find yourself favoring certain types of pants for specific classes. We break down the various types of yoga classes in our Buying Advice guide with suggestions for what kinds of pants work well for each one.

Comfort & Fit

Beyond Yoga also states that their "soft Spacedye Performance material provides a level of comfort unparalleled by any active wear you currently own." In this aspect, they are correct! These were the most comfortable pair of yoga pants in this review. The material is so soft and cozy, and it was our favorite pair for wearing all day, unlike other models like the Lucy Perfect Core Pant, which were so restricting around the tummy that we couldn't wait to get them off. If comfort is your main criteria when buying a pair of yoga pants, then the Beyond Yoga Spacedye Long Legging is definitely the pant for you.

We read a lot of online user reviews for this pant, and many of them said you'd need to size down to get a good fit. We ordered in our usual size though and they fit just fine. They also offered a decent amount of compression for such a comfortable pant, and we never felt "jiggly" while walking or practicing in them. We also appreciate that some colors come in an XXS and XXL size option. Too many manufacturers stop at XL (or even Large), leaving larger yogis out of luck. On the flip side, with sizes increasing, teeny tiny yogis can also struggle to find pants that fit, and often find themselves shopping in the teen isle. The more options the better, in our opinion, so that we can all find great clothes for practicing in.

Durability

We had no major issues with durability during our testing period, but do wonder how long they can keep staying so soft without any pilling or hardening of the fabric. We did see some pilling in the Alo Goddess Ribbed Legging and the Lucy Perfect Core Pant after only a half dozen or so uses, so at least the Beyond Yoga Spacedye Long Legging passed this first bar unscathed.

Style

When it comes to style, these leggings are fairly plain. The heather colored fabrics come in great color choices, but there is little else going on style-wise. They're not going to turn heads like the Alo Goddess Ribbed Legging, with its two-toned construction, or the wild print options of the Onzie Capri Pants. That being said, sometimes all you want is a plain pair of comfy leggings to coordinate with an outfit, and we'd much rather wear these under a sweater dress than an uncomfortable pair of tights.

Best Applications

These leggings are best for gentle yoga where you might not sweat a lot, or for someone looking for a cozy pair to wear all day long. The heather colors can coordinate well with a variety of clothing, so if you are looking for a pair of leggings to wear under a chunky sweater or dress, our Top Pick for All-Day Comfort is a great choice.

Value

These leggings retail for $88, which is a lot of money to plunk down for one pair of leggings; however, if you're looking for a versatile pair that can also be worn around town, then these will do the trick. In fact, we feel better about spending this much on something that we'd actually wear regularly around town as opposed to something that we only sweat in and trash quickly.

Conclusion

Let's face it - sometimes we wear our yoga pants more for other activities than we do for actual yoga. In fact, we've even seen a sign in front of a yoga studio that said "You've bought the clothes now try the practice!" If you're looking for the best pair of leggings to wear around the house all day, or to work or school in colder months, then the Beyond Yoga Spacedye Long Legging is a clear winner. They are cozy and soft, and the best pair in this review for all-day wear. These weren't the best pair of yoga pants, purely due to their lack of breathability, but our Top Pick for All-Day Comfort is great for everything else.
