Our Verdict

Marmot Discontinued the Pinnacle September 2015
REASONS TO BUY
Very warm
Inexpensive
REASONS TO AVOID
Heavy! Moderate quality fabrics = high material weight = reduced warmth to weight ratio
The Pinnacle is a warm, comfortable, and fully featured sleeping bag made with 800-fill down. The bag is warmer than most three-season bags (the category encompasses both fifteen and twenty-degree bags) Unfortunately, however, its heavy and bulky and not warm for its weight.

Likes

The Marmot Pinnacle 15 is a comfortable, warm, and fully featured sleeping bag. Its stuffed with 800-fill down and has several nice amenities such as a pocket that stuffs into the draft tube, and a thick and burly neck baffle. The Pinnacle is warmer than the Mountain Hardwear Phantom 15 and Marmot Helium 15, but colder than the Marmot Plasma 15, and ten degree bags such as the Western Mountaineering Versalite, Feathered Friends Lark and Valandre Bloody Mary. The Pinnacle, however, is considerably cheaper than these other bags.

Dislikes

The Pinnacle may be warm and loaded with features, but its also disappointingly heavy and bulky. The bag checks in at 40 ounces, which is close to twice the weight of the lightest full zip three-season bag (Feathered Friends Hummingbird, 25 ounces). The Pinnacle does offer a lot of warmth for the price. Consider the bag if youre on a budget and care more about warmth than weight and compressibility.
