The Atomic Hawx has a very inviting initial fit; the liner is comfortable and features a layer of memory foam that cradles the foot well. The memory foam will be less prone to packing out in the long run and the personalized fit can be preserved even with long-term wear. We found this boot to have a roomy, medium-volume fit which would be best for skiers who have been cramped in narrower boots in the past. Also, it is tall and upright, which feels responsive while skiing.
However, the 120 flex of the Atomic Hawx feels soft in comparison to the other boots in this test, in particular the Lange RX 120 and the Dalbello Panterra ID 120 - all of which feel much stiffer even though they technically have the same flex rating. If this boot fits you well but you are looking for a stiffer ride, consider the 130 flex version.
This model features unique iFlex zones along the outside of the foot, which are designed to increase sensitivity. Coupled with the soft 120 flex, these zones left the boot feeling unsupportive.

The Atomic Hawx 120 is targeted at the upper-intermediate skier with a medium-wide foot who is looking to enter the world of performance, all-mountain ski boots. They are comfortable and warm, which will help keep you on the slopes all day to master your turns, but we think they lack the appropriate stiffness and stability.

Comfort and Fit
The Atomic Hawx 120 has a very comfortable liner that features memory foam for a personalized and preserved fit. We think this boot would be best suited for skiers with a medium-wide foot. We really like the power-strap on this boot, which is wide, does not slip, and cranks the shell and liner close to the shin of skinny legged skiers.

The iFlex zones featured on the forefoot of this boot are intended to flex a slight amount with the arc of the ski, making the boot more sensitive to what your skis and the snow are telling you. We found this feature to be novel, but would prefer to not feel our boot flex.
Additionally, the Atomic Hawx feels softer than all the other 120 flex boots we tested. This soft feel coupled with the iFlex zones left us feeling unsupported when skiing aggressively, but this feature may be attractive to individuals seeking maximum sensitivity from their boots. The tall, close to the shin fit helps to make the boot responsive and the upright stance is comfortable skiing all day.

The Atomic Hawx 120 comes with a Recco chip embedded in the shell to aid in rescue if the wearer is caught in an in-bounds avalanche.

The liner is the biggest sell of this boot…we love the way it feels. Micro-adjustable buckles and removable soles are a must in our book, and this boot includes these features. The addition of a Recco chip to this boot is unique in our test, and we appreciate the attention to safety that Atomic is adding to their boots with this feature.
Durability
We had no issues with the durability of this boot during our test, but the shell material seems much softer than other boots tested. We can't help but wonder how chipped up they will get with time.
Warmth
The Atomic Hawx 120 ranked high in our test for warmth. We attribute this to its somewhat roomy fit and the plush foam liner.
Best Application
The Atomic Hawx is best suited for upper-intermediate skiers with a medium-wide foot. This boot will feel great to a skier who likes a softer ride in their boots.
Value
This boot is a good value for the upper-intermediate skier who doesn't put in more than 20-30 days per season on the mountain. It has a high quality liner that will welcome your feet after long stints away from your boots.
Conclusion
If comfort and warmth are what you are seeking in an all mountain ski boot, look no further. The Atomic Hawx is best suited for upper-intermediate skiers with medium-wide feet. For a more performance oriented boot, consider one of the stiffer and narrower fitting boots in our review.
