Petzl's ultra-light Dyneema sling offers the most compact sling that we tested while still maintaining full 22kn strength. With an 8mm width these slings are 4mm thinner than Petzl's already compact StAnneau Dyneema slings.

FinAnneau slings are super lightweight and compact; a full 2mm thinner than the Black Diamond Dynex Runner. Unfortunately what you save in weight and bulk you might sacrifice in durability and therefore, product life. If you absolutely must have the lightest and most compact sling on the market, these are the slings for you, but due to their high cost and low durability you might be more satisfied with a slightly larger, longer lasting product such as Trangos Ultratape. For a skinny, durable sling option, we recommend the Mammut Crocodile Sling.

Our Analysis and Test Results

Likes


Petzls FinAnneau Sling is the most compact sling that we tested. If weight and rack bulk are a priority for you, you cant get much better than the FinAnneau. Perfect for super long multi-pitch days, alpine ascents, or any other light and fast scenario.

Dislikes


AS with many of the super compact slings we tested, we found that the über skinny profile of this sling was one of its greatest drawbacks. We found these Petzl slings to be so skinny they frequently tangled on themselves, and a knot tied and weighted in the sling was virtually impossible to untie. Our tests also revealed that the FinAnneau was one of the least durable Dyneema slings we tested meaning that you'll have to replace it often.

Best Applications


These slings are best used in a super lightweight scenario. Extending gear placements on speed ascents, long alpine routes, and super long multi pitch days are all great applications for this sling. Due to the difficulty in untying a weighted knot, it is not recommended that the FinAnneau be used for setting up an anchor.
