The Black Diamond Storm was updated in 2016 to with improved optics 56% more lumens (250 vs. 160 before) and is more waterproof IPX67.  Black Diamond Storm
The Black Diamond Storm is a robust and full-featured headlamp that offers a bright beam, a fully waterproof enclosure, and provides good close proximity and trail scores. It is Black Diamond's most...  read more >

The Black Diamond Spot was updated for 2016 with better optics 53% more lumens (200 vs. 130 before) and is now waterproof to 1.1 meter. But we one change we don't like is the new headband strap which has one buckle facing in (see the right side one above) that we found to be less comfortable than the old strap.

 Black Diamond Spot
The Spot was a close runner up for our Editors' Choice award because it has the best beam performance and battery life for a compact headlamp that only costs $40. Many headlamps that cost more than...  read more >
